I was born in Washington D.C., and raised in Maryland where I began a career in teaching. Then, after relocating to Florida, my career path straddled both education and healthcare, primarily for senior citizens suffering from Dementia.

I have many hobbies and interests, which include writing poetry, something I’ve done since childhood. Under the pen name, K.T. McGivens, I published my first book of poems in 1992, to much acclaim and have been the recipient of two statewide First Place awards for my work.

Then, at age 63, several friends encouraged me to try my hand at writing a novel and thus began a new career as the author of the Katie Porter Mysteries, a multibook series that I continue to write to this day. The mysteries focus on strong female characters, problem solving, trusted friendships, courage and tenacity; a formula I learned from growing up reading the Nancy Drew Mysteries.

I still currently live in the panhandle of Florida and have two grown children.
